How to find the best farm spot in Lineage II

Whether you are leveling or farming Adena, the best spot is the one that pays you the most for your time, and only your own runs can tell you which one that is: the answer moves with your class, level and gear. This guide is how L2Tracker compares spots, and how to time a run so the numbers are fair, on any Essence server, official or private, L2Reborn's among them.

Measure by rate

A long run always earns more than a short one, so totals compare nothing. Divide the XP and Adena by the minutes the run took, and every session, whatever its length, is on the same scale: an XP rate and an Adena rate. L2Tracker works out both for every session you log, per hour or per minute, whichever you choose in Settings.

Keep the Magic Lamps apart

Magic Lamps give Lineage II Essence characters bonus XP on top of what the monsters give, and the XP in the Play Report includes it. A lamp fills as you hunt and pays out all at once when it is full, Red the most and Green the least, so one Red Lantern landing in a run can make an ordinary spot look like your best.

NET XP is the session's XP minus the XP of all four lamps: what the spot itself paid. L2Tracker ranks spots by their NET XP rate and shows the lamps' share on top of it, apart.

One run is not enough

Two runs at the same spot rarely pay the same: spawns, other players and luck all move the number. So L2Tracker reads your sessions this way:

  • For every spot you have farmed twice or more, it shows your worst, typical (the median) and best rate, for XP and for Adena. A spot whose worst run still beats another's typical one is the safer pick.
  • The Farm Sessions table marks your top three sessions only once you have logged five: a top three out of three sessions says nothing.
  • The spot ranking uses each spot's latest session, so a spot that has changed since, after an update or a few levels, shows what it pays now.

XP or Adena: choose with both in view

The spot with the most XP rarely has the most Adena. One chart places every spot by its average XP rate against its average Adena rate, so you can see which spots give a fair share of both, and which give up one for the other.

How to time a run with the Play Report

  1. Go to the spot and start auto-hunting.
  2. Open the System Menu in the bottom-right corner of the screen, then the Characters panel of the Play Report.
  3. In the panel, expand the Magic Lamps section with its arrow, so the lamps' XP shows too.
  4. When you are ready, press Reset: the report counts from zero.
  5. Let it run for a set time, six minutes say, and stay at the one spot: the report counts everything since the reset, so a run across two spots blends them.
  6. When Total play time reaches it, stop auto-hunting or take a screenshot.
  7. Log the XP, Adena, minutes and the four lamps in L2Tracker: type them in, or import the screenshot and let it read them. The desktop companion can do this step for you while you farm.

Start comparing

L2Tracker does all of this from the sessions you log, with over a hundred spots ready when you sign up. Get started, and compare your rates with other players on the L2Tracker Discord.
